More potent than I thought
This year we had good
superhero movies and we had great superhero movies, but none of them were like Venom.
I mean, how often do
you get to see the hero bite off the heads of the bad guys? That is right, you
literally get to see Venom bite off someone’s head and might I add, it happens
more than once. The anti-hero was not created to follow rules, but to serve justice
by all means necessary.
Critics panned the
movie, but the fans like it. Yes, the origins differ from the comics and it
might not be perfect, but I still think it is an awesome film. Let’s forget
about the comics and Spider-Man for awhile and just focus on the character of
Venom/Eddie Brock.
Tom Hardy is great in
his movie, although the New York-accent might be off at times. Yes, the film
starts off slow, but once it Venom makes his appearance the movie just flies
off with all the action. I also appreciate the movies humour and the usage of
certain characters.
I know a lot of
Marvel-fanboys might not agree with everything I said, but I genuinely think Venom is an amazing movie. You cannot
miss it just because the character differs from what you wanted it to be. Just
buy your ticket, sit-back and enjoy Tom’s take on the character.
In the movie a
journalist, Eddie Brock is trying to take Carlton Drake, founder of the Life
Foundation. While investigating one of Drake’s experiments, Eddie’s body merges
with the Symbiote, Venom. This gives him great powers, but it all comes at a
price.
My Verdict
It is not the best
movie of the year, but not seeing it will mean you miss out on a lot. Venom is the type of movie I would re-watch.
The horror, comedy, romance, drama and superhero elements of the movie blend
together perfectly. I think this is a must-watch movie for all comic book and
superhero lovers.
