It’s not too small
Animated movies have
improved vastly over the last two to three decades and there is no slowing it
down now.
The new film from
Warner Animation Group is now different and it tells a never before seen story.
Smallfoot is something different and
there definitely is a market for it. A lot of us have wondered for years what
it will be like to meet a Big Foot/Yeti, but have you ever wondered what it
will be like for them if they met us?
The movie starts an
ensemble cast of Channing Tatum, James Corden, Zendaya, Common, LeBron James,
Danny DeVito, Gina Rodriguez and Yara Shahidi. It has not made wave like a
Disney-feature yet, but believe me it is worth the watch.
The film has
breathtaking animated scenery, the cast easily complements each other, the plot
is not ever-stuffed, but unfortunately it is more for younger viewers than the
whole family. Do not get me wrong, the film is fun and funny, but it is not
enough the capture the mind of the older audience. My mind kept drifting off,
but luckily some scenes easily pulled me back in.
The movie tells the
story of Migo, a friendly Yeti whose world gets turned upside down when he
discovers something that he didn't know existed -- a human. He soon faces
banishment from his snowy home when the rest of the villagers refuse to believe
his fantastic tale. Hoping to prove them wrong, Migo embarks on an epic journey
to find the mysterious creature that can put him back in good graces with his
simple community.
My Verdict
The movie is
definitely something the young ones will enjoy and if they are old enough to
sit through the whole movie alone, then you might just get a little “me-time”.
I know there are some parents who will love the movie too, so maybe you should
give it a chance, I definitely enjoyed some parts of it.
Rating: 6.7/10 – Good enough
