Side-kick action
Batman, Superman,
Aquaman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, they have all been in the spotlight, but what
about the lesser-known heroes, the side-kicks.
DC is finally giving
us the opportunity to see more of their less-known heroes in Titans. The R-Rated action drama can
definitely qualify as one of the best shows currently streaming. The DC
Universe and Netflix show certainly knows how to leave behind a blood bath.
It is only three
episodes in and it’s already one of my favourite superhero shows. In Titans Robin, Raven, Starfire and Beast Boy
team up to form the first live-action Teen Titans team. It pays homage to the
darker Batman movies, but still remains something different.
It is nothing like the
Arrowverse shows or Marvel’s Netflix shows, it is in its own category. Quick
warning, if you are a fan of the animated Teen Titans shows, then this might
surprise. This show is not for children, regardless of the characters.
DC succeeds in making
a gritty, yet fun and sometimes scary superhero show. During the production the
show received backlash for its casting choices, but the moment you watch the
show you realise that all the naysayers really had no leg to stand on.
It might not be the
perfect rendition to the Titans we are used to, but it gives the viewers
something new. Each episodes leaves you wanting more, unfortunately you will
have to wait another week.
When Dick Grayson /
Robin and Rachel Roth / Raven require assistance to deal with a plot that
threatens the entire planet, they join forces with Koriand'r / Starfire and Gar
Logan / Beast Boy to form the Titans.
My Verdict
The show is not
perfect, the pacing might seem a little slow at first, but once it gains
momentum you get the hang of it. The supporting characters are also perfectly
fleshed out and like I said, it leaves you wanting for more. So if you are into
dark action-dramas, then this might just be the right show for you.
My Rating: 8.0/10 –
Really Good
