It’s horrifying
I know a lot of us
enjoy some horror movies now and then. So whether you like seeing a possessed
doll or just a serial killer going on a rampage, horror movies are still
successful.
Halloween (2018) is one of those must see horror films. I had
to add the 2018 to distinguish it from the two other Halloween-films in the same franchise. Now I know a lot of people
think that slasher-films are a thing of the past, but just hear me out.
This movie might not
contain all the supernatural or paranormal basis of other recent horrors, but
it still tells a compelling story. The movie is a major throwback to the horror
movies I remember watching as a kid (yup, I used to love horrors) and it also
continues s story that got kind of meh over the years.
The return of some of
the original characters/cast makes you want to see where the story takes you. I
think the director had big shoes to fill and he did it exceptionally. Jamie Lee
Curtis back in her original role with some kind of PTSD makes you want more and
more of the film.
Michael Meyers might
not be the Nun or Annebelle, but he sure knows how to put on a show. The movie
is not without films, it has several plot holes and it gets kind of weird at
times, but that’s just how the horror genre is. It was definitely made to cater
to certain audiences (so do not take your children along).
My Verdict
It has been a while
since I last appreciated a horror film and I think this movie has the perfect
blend of jump-scares, drama, action and weird effects. I will however not
recommend it for everyone, even thought I find it really fun to watch.
(Remember, no children allowed)
My Rating: 8.2/10 –
Love It
