Monsters are cool
Today I will be
kicking off my week of reviews. It has been a while since I reviewed new
movies, so get ready to feast on some movie articles.
I will be sharing new
review everyday to get you ready to go out to the cinema this weekend. Abominable will be our first movie of
the week. The animation is one of those movies you will never forget. It can
easily be compared to Toy Story, Shrek, Despicable Me and Madagascar.
I love animation and
this movie just proves why an animated movie can be so much better than a
live-action film. In a year of remakes and sequels, this film stands out as one
of the few good original stories Hollywood could tell.
The movie quickly won
over my heart and made me fall in love with the characters. I do not want to give
away to much of the plot, but if you love animation this one is for you. Lead
actress, Chloe Bennet, is not exactly a household name, but she nailed it in
this role.
The voice acting, the
story, the plot points, the writing, the animation and the direction is totally
awesome. It really entertains from the start to the finish. Unfortunately no
movie is without its flaws, Abominable has
a few, but you can easily overlook them.
As far as I am
concerned this is one of the best movies of the year, probably not top-5, but definitely
good enough for a re-watch. Abominable has
heart, it has soul, it has drama, it has comedy – things a lot of movies need
these days.
After discovering a
Yeti on the roof of her apartment building, teenage Yi and her two friends
embark on an epic quest to reunite the magical creature with his family. But to
do so, they must stay one step ahead of a wealthy financier and a determined zoologist
who want to capture the beast for their own gain.
My Verdict
Abominable is worth every penny. So whether you are an adult, a child or a moody
teenager, there is something for everyone in this film. As a said before, I would
not mind watching this movie for a second or third time. So go get your tickets
at Ster-Kinekor today and get ready to fall in love with a great story and a
few amazing characters.
My Rating: 8.2 out of 10 – Love it!
