Moving On
Have you ever noticed how Pixar
movies always tend to make you cry? I guess that is because their stories are
just so relatable.
Onward might be a fantasy movie, but its characters feel so real. I know I definitely
related to both Chris Pratt’s and Tom Holland’s characters. I see so much of
myself in them, even though I am not an elf.
This is one of those
movies where the studio did not put that much thought into it, but they
definitely put a lot of heart into it. Think of Inside Out, but instead of
characters based on emotions, they use mystical creatures to get you into
contact with your emotional side.
It is a fun emotional
rollercoaster and it is definitely not just a movie to make you laugh. That is
the thing about Pixar, the movies seem to be made for kids but they usually
pick on the adults’ heartstrings.
It is a magical movie
filled with wonder and beauty. It is not entirely flawless, but it is easy to look
pass how inconsistent the plot and creatures are at times. Pratt and Holland do an amazing job in
bringing the main characters to life. You can truly feel that brotherly bond
between the two.
The rest of the cast
also does an amazing job, Pixar definitely has one of the best casting
directors. The direction and story as a whole is simply brilliant. Most of the
movie makes you feel like a teenager again and that is the beauty of it.
Two teenage elf
brothers, Ian and Barley Lightfoot, go on an journey to discover if there is
still a little magic left out there in order to spend one last day with their
father, who died when they were too young to remember him.
My Verdict
Onward might not be flawless, but it is definitely a movie I can watch over and
over again. It makes me appreciate what I have in life and that is why I so
easily related with the characters. This is one of those movies that the whole
family will enjoy. So get your tickets now and grab box of tissues while you
are at the mall.
My Rating: 8.7 out of
10 – Love It!
