Almost Time to Go!
In a little over a week
I will join my media colleagues from across Southern Africa for the second
Comic Con Africa.
I still need some
financial backing to make it to the event. My costs for the event are around N$10
000. This includes accommodation, transport, food and other transit costs. I
have been struggling to get the support for my trip. This is my last appeal to
family, friends, and other Namibians to help me finance my trip.
The event will take
place from 21 September to 24 September at the Gallagher Convention Centre in
Midrand, South Africa. Comic Con Africa is a place where writers, artists,
filmmakers, musicians, cosplayers, video game developers, actors and other
people from the entertainment industry come together to share information.
As a journalist I will
be tasked with supplying Namibian news outlets with stories live from the
event. I will also have the opportunity to promote Namibia as a tourist
attraction and to invite people to invest in our country.
As a writer I will
have the opportunity to pitch my ideas to publishers and filmmakers. This will
also give me to explore stories from our sister countries and to learn more
from authors from around the globe.
This is a business
trip, but it will allow me to have a little fun and to explore the world beyond
Namibia. If you are able to make a sponsor in any form, please feel free to
contact me or to share this article for more exposure. If you need my bank
details, I will gladly provide them.
