Is that a demon clown?
It is back and It
remembers what happened the last time, so you better beware and do not think
the battle is over yet.
It: Chapter 2 is finally here and it feels like I have been waiting forever or at
least 27 years for it. After hibernating for 27 years, the being known as It or
Pennywise the Dancing Clown is back to torment the children of Derry.
The Loser’s Club knows
this and they are ready to send the evil clown back to where it belongs. They
did it once and you know, second chances are always better. The film brings
back the original tween cast, plus adults taking over the main roles. Like
seriously, the casting director booked a solid new cast.
The casting and the
acting in this movie is probably one of the best of 2019. Bill Hader as Richie
Tozier and Bill Skarsgård as It were brilliant. This plus the other
actors certainly puts the movie over the top. When a film is adapted from a
novel, fans usually expect it to be true to its source material and thankfully
this movie is.
I can truly commend
the writers and director for staying so close to the original plot and giving
us a movie that I know I will remember for years to come. My only criticism is length
of the film; it goes on for quite a long time. Another negative is that the
movie is not as scary as the first, but this might be good for sensitive
viewers. On the brighter side I did find a little funnier than the first film.
Defeated by members of the Losers' Club, the
evil clown Pennywise returns 27 years later to terrorize the town of Derry,
Maine, once again. Now adults, the childhood friends have long since gone their
separate ways. But when people start disappearing, Mike Hanlon calls the others
home for one final stand. Damaged by scars from the past, the united Losers
must conquer their deepest fears to destroy the shape-shifting Pennywise -- now
more powerful than ever.
My Verdict
All in all, the movie
is quite enjoyable. I love every part of It, even if It does feel a little
dragged. The It franchise is hands down on of the best in the horror genre. So
you would not make a mistake to go and see this new instalment as soon as
possible. I know I will go watch it again soon. So go get your It tickets at Ster-Kinekor Namibia

My rating: 8.5 out of 10 – Love It!
