Long Reigns the King
Titans, just a bunch
of titans everywhere I look and honestly, I really love it. Seeing these
massive creatures going head-to-head is just a treat.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters is exactly the kind of juggernaut the movie
world needed and it made its way into my top film list. The movie has its
flaws, and I agree with critics about the undeveloped human characters, but the
film is not really about humans, is it?
I personally find the
focus on the kaiju really important to film’s overall story. Yes, some human
characters are good, but the monsters are the real MVP’s. Thank goodness for
good CGI, otherwise the movie would have been a complete letdown.
The numerous fights
between the monsters are amazing and forever stuck in my mind. I loved how none
of the titans are the same, although Rodan could have gotten more screen time.
Godzilla, the king himself was outstanding and I applaud his performance.
Godzilla also has some
comedic moments, so you don’t have to worry about it being a complete CGI
movie. The direction was great and it makes me excited for the next movie in
the series. Also try to catch all the Kong: Skull Island references and easter
eggs.
Members of the
crypto-zoological agency Monarch face off against a battery of god-sized
monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and
his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient
super-species-thought to be mere myths-rise again, they all vie for supremacy,
leaving humanity's very existence hanging in the balance.
My Verdict
The movie is fun,
filled with action and scenes you will never forget, however it might not be to
everyone’s taste. Some people might not be into seeing giant CG monsters fight,
but I still recommend that you give it a try. I personally think the movie has
re-watch value, so don’t miss out on this gigantic movie.
My Rating: 7.5 out of
10 – Good
