Monsters, Insane fights and Black suits
Aliens, fast cars and
funny moments, that pretty much describes Men in Black: International, because
it doesn’t have much to go on.
The Men in Black
franchise is back, but with a group of new characters. No Agent J and Agent K,
but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The new movie takes the franchise where
it hasn’t gone before, Europe. It introduces us to new E.T’s and new settings.
I read all the reviews
online and went into the theatre expecting the worst, but I was surprisingly entertained.
The story was predictable, the CG wasn’t the best and some jokes didn’t hit the
mark, but thank goodness for Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth.
The two stars make the
movie an unforgettable experience. Their chemistry is shines throughout the
film. Director F. Gary Gray also did an awesome job the action sequences. Another
standout was the little alien Pawny.
I enjoyed the movie as
a Men in Black fan, but I know it could have been better. The villain had
little motivation and background and the secondary villains acted as if the
whole film was a dance floor, but I guess it fits into the overall Men in Black
feel.
The Men in Black have
expanded to cover the globe but so have the villains of the universe. To keep
everyone safe, decorated Agent H and determined rookie M join forces -- an
unlikely pairing that just might work. When aliens that can take the form of any
human arrive on Earth, H and M embark on a globe-trotting adventure to save the
agency -- and ultimately the world -- from their mischievous plans.
My Verdict
The movie is the
weakest link of the franchise, but that doesn’t mean it is bad. I definitely
think it has some re-watch value. The characters are certainly the best part
of the whole film. So if you enjoyed the first three, then you will definitely
enjoy this one too.
My Rating: 6.2 out of
10 – Good
