On the silver screen in September
Not a lot of movies made major headlines last month, resulting in Hollywood having a quiet August. September will however prove
to be something completely different.
This month
Ster-Kinekor Namibia will bring you some of the best films this year and we will follow
them every step of the way. We will have weekly updates and reviews to cover
what’s going on at the cinema in Windhoek. Below we have the movies of the
upcoming month.
Ellen: Die Ellen Pakkies
Storie
The South African film
will be out this Friday. It is based on true events and tells the story of
Ellen and her troubled relationship with her drug-addicted son, Abie – a
relationship that eventually led to Abie’s death.
Mile 22
The Mark Wahlberg led
action thriller is finally making its way to this side of the Atlantic this
weekend. Mark stars as James Silva, a CIA operative who leads a small but
lethal paramilitary team on dangerous missions.
The Nun
The long awaited
horror film, which forms parts of The Conjuring franchise is finally here. The
film will make its debut on Friday. Horror lovers are in for a surprise, as the
film promises to deliver twists and scares you never expected.
The Predator
The alien hunter is
back and this time the threat is bigger than ever. The ensemble cast includes
Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Jacob, Tremblay, Keegan-Michael Key, Olivie
Munn, Alfie Allen, Thomas Jane and Sterling K. Brown. Shane Black is helming
the adventure horror movie and hopefully it will live up to the original film.
It will be out on 14 September.
Billionaire Boys Club
The biographical drama
based on the real Billionaire Boys Club will be out on 14 September. It tells
the story of a group of rich teenagers who got involved in a Ponzi scheme in
the 1980s and it all led to a murder.
Smallfoot
What will the cinema
be without something for the younger audience? Smallfoot will be in cinemas
from 28 September. A Yeti named Migo stirs up his community when he discovers something that he didn’t know existed, the smallfoot – a human.
Night School
Also out on 28
September is the long-awaited Kevin Hart comedy film featuring Tiffany Haddish.
Kevin stars a man whose life takes an unexpected turn when he accidentally
blows up his place of employment. He is forced to attend night school to
graduate from high school.
Other films also
making their way to the theatre this month, include: Submergence, Sgt. Stubby,
Leave No Trace, Gotti, The Children Act, Blackkklansman and The Recce.
