The Best of 2018

This year has been a roller-coaster for a lot of us, but one thing that impressed me was the number of awesome movies.

I went through all the movies I watched this year and decided to pick my top 10. It was not easy, but I am sure a lot of us can agree with this list. These movies might not necessarily have high scores on Rotten Tomatoes or be Oscar contenders, but they definitely won over audiences all over the world. So before I start ranting about how bitter I am over the Avengers: Infinity War ending, here is my Top-10 list of 2018.

Mission: Impossible – Fallout

Ethan Hunt and his team faced a bigger threat this time around and in typical Tom Cruise fashion – he topped all his stunts from the previous movie. The action set pieces are perfectly executed and the story is one of the best. Honestly, it is one of the best action movies of all time.

Crazy Rich Asian
This is what a romantic comedy is supposed to be like. It has an awesome story and the director took novel and perfectly translated it into a movie. Some characters are relatable, while others are just fun to watch. This is a definite must watch.

Searching
The John Cho led thriller will keep on the edge of the seat for most of the movie. What makes the movie totally unique is the fact that it mostly takes place on digital devices. It also proves that the world will happily accept films with diversity.

Venom
The movie everyone expected to fail was a total hit with audiences worldwide. The Spider-Man villain turned antihero gave us a superhero movie that felt different, but still stayed within the genres boundaries. It is a must-watch.

A Star is Born
Often times it is hard to sell a musical to average moviegoers, but Bradley Cooper succeeded. Let by him and Lady Gaga, the movie is a cinematic masterpiece. The soundtrack is beautiful and catchy and so is the film.

Black Panther
T’Challa is the superhero we needed, but never really knew we wanted. The king of Wakanda was off to an awesome start. The film crosses different boundaries, but still remains relatable to modern times. It is a story that will inspire people for years to come.

A Quiet Place
I am not a fan of horror movies, but this one caught my attention. It is not just the story, characters and setting that excited me, the cast’s chemistry was off the charts. This is movie I will watch over and over again.

Avengers: Infinity War
This is not only the highest grossing movie of 2018; it is also the saddest thing I have watched in years. Seeing my favourite characters turn to dust made me breakdown in tears. Despite all of that, it was one of the funniest, most dramatic, action-filled films of the year. I have seen a couple of times already and I probably will watch it a few more times.
