Solo at the movies

I love the Star Wars franchise; it’s one of the few things I can remember from my childhood. I always dreamt about being an outlaw like Han Solo and that’s why I decided to give Solo: A Star Wars Story a chance.
I pre-booked my ticket assuming the cinema would be full, but to my surprise I was all by myself. Well no all alone, a friend of mine tagged along, but it was still a major let-down. I know a lot of people were against a Han Solo prequel, but I hoped they would still give it a chance.
I thought that my fellow Star Wars fans might be excited to see a young Han Solo on screen, but since Harrison Ford isn’t in the lead we thought the movie would suck. To me it was the total opposite once I actually saw the movie.
It’s great to see other worlds and characters in the Star Wars franchise and it proves that the larger universe is an awesome place to explore. Rogue One did an exceptional job a few years ago and Lucas Film hoped they would be able to do the same with Solo.
Unfortunately this wasn’t the story fans were hoping for. So without further ado I am going to review the film. In Solo you see where Han came from, how he became a Solo and how he first met Chewbacca and Lando Calrissian.
It also explains how he became the legendary outlaw and I have to say, Alden Ehrenreich does do the role justice. The star of the movie however is Donald Glover; he portrays Lando in a way that makes you wish he was the lead character.

To me the film is good, not great, but good. It definitely isn’t as memorable as other movies in the franchise, but it does put a new spin on things. It is definitely worth the watch, even if you think Harrison Ford is Han Solo.
I rate the film 3.5 out of 5.
In the movie young Han Solo finds adventure when he joins a gang of galactic smugglers, including a 196-year-old Wookie named Chewbacca. Indebted to the gangster Dryden Vos, the crew devises a daring plan to travel to the mining planet Kessel to steal a batch of valuable coaxium. In need of a fast ship, Solo meets Lando Calrissian, the suave owner of the perfect vessel for the dangerous mission -- the Millennium Falcon.
