Recovering after the War
Marvel’s Avengers:
Infinity War has been out for a week now and I am still filled with all
kinds of emotions; this movie definitely made me feel things I have never felt
before.
I wanted to write a review after I saw the movie, but I
still had to process everything. This why I only got round to writing something
today and now I can go into as much detail as possible. So if you have not seen
the movie yet I suggest you stop reading right now, as this review/article will
be filled with spoilers.
First of all we get to see the Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers
crossover we have all been waiting for. It has been 10-years in the
making. It is such a glorious moment to
see Thor interact with the A-hole galaxy savers. Secondly, we get to see not
one, but two Sherlock Holmes on screen. Robert Downey Jr and Benedict
Cumberbatch together is pure gold.
Thanos the big baddie is played by Josh Brolin and he is magnificent and in my opinion he is the best MCU villain to date (I do not think Loki still counts as a villain). The third act probably consists of the best battle scenes in MCU history.
The movie is an emotional rollercoaster, one moment you are
excited to see your favourite characters meet each and the next you just want
to rip the Infinity Gauntlet from
Thanos’ hand. In the end you kind of relate to Thanos’ plan, although it is
crazy. (Some of us relate to it.)
The moment The Mad Titan sacrifices Gamora to get the Soul
Stone is probably one of the most painful scenes. You can actually see how his
heart is breaking and for a single moment you realise that he is still just a
father who loves his daughter.
This is not the only heartbreaking moment of the movie.
After Thanos snaps his fingers to kill half of the universe’s population, the
Avengers and Guardians start turning into dust one by one. The most painful of
these deaths is probably Spider-Man’s.
Seeing young Peter Parker plead to Tony Stark for his life
is just terrible. You realise this is just a kid who wishes he could have done
more and that is why he is apologising to Stark. Another painful death happens
right at the beginning of the movie and that is the death of Loki.
The God of Mischief has always been a fan-favourite
character and watching him die at the hands of Thanos was probably the best way
to show that no character is safe. The Russo Brothers promised death and
destruction, but this was never what any of us had in mind.
The movie does not exactly end on a cliff-hanger, but it
leaves the audience with a lot of questions and a bunch of confusing moments. Avengers: Infinity War is so good, but
at the same time it totally drains you. At least we got to see our favourite
Marvel heroes in action again; hopefully Avengers 4 will have a happy ending.
The breakthrough characters
of the movie were definitely Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, Thor and Thanos. Thor
once again proved why he is the god of thunder, after gaining his new weapon (Stormbreaker)
no foe is able to take him down.
We got to see Doctor Strange do weird magic things and he
sacrificed the Time Stone to save the life of Iron-Man. Spider-Man became a
true Avenger in this film and we finally got to see how strong the kid from
Queens really is.
This movie is amazing, so make sure you go see it.
P.S. Can we all just forgive Peter Quill for messing up the
plan (his own plan)? He was acting out of anger after losing the woman he
loves.
