Good morning, angels
They are back and
kicking butts. Just like the angels that came before them, the new team is
ready to take on any threat.
Charlie’s Angels (2019) has been long in the making and finally
we get to see Elizabeth Banks on the series. The movie serves as sequel to the
ones released in the early 2000s and the show that aired in the 1970s. I have always been a fan of the Charlie’s
Angels series, but this one just did not make the cut.
It is a fun movie. It
has amazing over the top stunts and action scenes. It is funny and it has a
stellar cast, but that was not enough to save it from being a flop during its
opening weekend. The movie lacks what made the previous movies such a success
and that is making a film that everyone can enjoy.
The film starts of
great and it immediately catches your attention, an uneven tone easily isolates
the audience. I got lost so many times, but in the end it is just a good guy versus
bad guy film with a few twists here and there.
One of the things I
loved most about the film was the leads. Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella
Balinska really know how to kick some bad guy ass. Elizabeth Banks can be proud
of her project, but there is so much that could have been done better.
A brilliant scientist
invents Calisto -- a sustainable energy source that will revolutionize the way
people use power. But when Calisto falls into the wrong hands, the Angels must
retrieve it before it can be used as a weapon of mass destruction.
My Verdict
Well it might not be
the best movie in theatres at the moment; it is still a fun and entertaining
popcorn flick. It should not go down in history as total flop. If you are a fan
of action comedies and the Charlie’s Angels franchise then maybe this will be
awesome for you.
