Ain’t No One’s Fool
Tiffany Haddish is
having the time of her life on the big screen. The comedian and actress has
released hit after hit.
Nobody’s Fool is her fourth movie for 2018 and it is on its
way to being another big success. The comedy film comes from the mind of Madea
himself, Tyler Perry. As with all his movies, family and love plays a central
role.
Whoopi Goldberg, Tika
Sumpter and Omari Hardwich co-stars in the movie. Unfortunately the movie just
does not live up to the Madea franchise, nor Hiddish’s other work. The actors
try their best to give the movie some flare, but it all burns out too quickly.
As a fan of both Perry
and Haddish, I have to say I really expected more from their team-up.
Fortunately not all is lost. Goldberg is outstanding in her role and Haddish
really does her best to keep the movie rolling and fun.
The movie has a few
hilarious scenes; just enough to make sure it is not a total flop. The story
writing is a little flat, but luckily some jokes hit the right spot. This
certainly qualifies the movie as one of the must-see comedies of the season.
Haddish stars as
Tanya, a woman who has recently been released from prison. She reunites with
her sister (Tika), only to learn she is in an online relationship with a
mysterious man who might be “catfishing” her.
My Verdict
The movie is not
perfect, in fact it is filled with flaws, but the comedy is enough to carry it
through and this definitely qualifies it for a view at the cinema. Haddish has
worked hard and she keeps showing her talent in this movie.
My Rating: 5.5/ 10 –
Could have been better
