The World Was Going To End, Again
The Umbrella Academy is back! And this time the young heroes from the 21st century have to stop a new apocalypse.
Netflix’s The Umbrella
Academy’s sophomore season delivers all the thrills, comedy, romance, action,
twists, drama and out-of-this-world characters that make great storytelling.
This comic book show knows what it is and it is great at that.
I loved the first
season of the show, but it had its flaws, however season two is a huge
improvement. The characters get to live and adapt to a new world, a world
before all the drama we are facing today. That doesn’t mean they didn’t face
any challenges.
The siblings find
themselves stuck in the 1960s. A decade of wars, civil rights movements, the
assassination of an American president, mobsters and cults, lots and lots of
cults. Each member of the Umbrella Academy finds a place where they fit in.
The characters really
show growth by the end of the season and it proves that the showrunner had
vision for each of the 7 core cast members. Not only do some characters become
more likeable, you also get to dive into each one’s story a little more.
Apart from great visuals
and amazing storytelling, the show also has one of the best soundtracks I’ve
ever heard. The songs perfectly complement some of my favourite scene over the
course of the 10 episodes.
Each episode brings
you something new, making the show bingeworthy. I couldn’t stop watching it and
now I am really excited about what’s coming next for the Umbrella Academy.
My Verdict
The show really improved
and I think it found a loyal fanbase. I really don’t have anything bad to say,
except wishing season 3 was out already. If you love superhero or comicbook
books shows and movies, then this is a must seen. It’s definitely one of the
best TV shows of 2020.
My Rating: 10 out of
10 – Masterpiece
